250mm length of 3mm Solid Brass Rod
Price: 2.60
A 250mm length of 3mm diameter solid Brass Rod to make your own weighted inserts for your Peacock Wagglers and Bodied Wagglers. Loaded floats like these cost a fortune in the shops. - Cut with wire cutters or hack saw, file the ends round and smooth.
- Glue in with Araldite.
- See below for method of making your loaded wagglers.
Method to load your Peacock Wagglers as follows : - Cut your peacock to length, if making more than one float select peacock of roughly the same diameter.
- For a six in waggler, I would start by cutting a piece of rod approx 30mm long.
- Using a 3mm drill bit, bore out a hole in the bottom of one piece of peacock quill about 18mm deep and insert the brass rod.
- Take a 2 litre plastic Coke bottle and gut off the top at the neck of the bottle and fill with water.
- Drop your piece of peacock into the water and check to see how far out of the water the top of the quill sticks up.
- I make mine so about 2" of quill sticks up. If the quill sinks too low for you, simply cut a bit off the rod, just 2mm or 3mm and recheck.
- Remember, you will be adding shot to the float so don't have it too low down.
- Once you have the correct level, simply cut your rods to the same size and glue in with Araldite.
- Happy float making !
